MacBook Air M2 Trade-In Value in Pakistan (2026)
The MacBook Air M2 is the current sweet spot on Pakistan's used-Mac market. It has the redesigned flat chassis, MagSafe, a brighter 500-nit screen, and enough headroom in the M2 chip that it will feel modern for another three to four years. Because the M4 Air launched at a much higher street price in 2026, upgraders are turning in M2s in real volume, and buyers who cannot stretch to a new Air are lining up for a clean second-hand one. Result: the M2 Air holds resale better than any other Air except the M3.
Trade-in offers on the M2 swing a lot with spec. The 8GB / 256GB base is the weakest slot (that single-NAND SSD hurts resale) while 16GB / 512GB configs get 20-25% more. Battery cycles, Activation Lock, screen coating wear, and chassis dents on the flat aluminum edges do the rest of the damage or the rest of the premium.

What actually drives your price
Activation Lock (Find My iCloud)
CRITICAL. Same rule as every modern Mac: an iCloud-locked M2 is unsellable to any legitimate shop, ourselves included. Sign out of iCloud on the device (System Settings > Apple ID > Sign Out) before you come in, or clear it remotely via icloud.com/find. If Find My is not removable the unit has zero trade-in value.
Battery cycle count
Under 300 = full price. 300-500 = -5-8%. 500-800 = -10-12%. 800+ or Service Recommended in System Report = we deduct Rs. 18,000-25,000 (M2 battery replacement is priced higher than M1 because of the adhesive process).
Screen condition and Stage Light effect
The M2 Air's thinner display has been prone to a bright vertical patch under the notch (Stage Light effect) on units that got squeezed in a bag. That drops offer by Rs. 10,000-15,000. Any coating wear or dead pixels = -5-15%.
Chassis dents on flat edges and MagSafe port
The redesigned flat aluminum shows dents dramatically. A dented rear edge or a bent MagSafe area drops the offer 8-12%. A cracked bottom case = Rs. 15,000-20,000 deducted.
Keyboard and Touch ID
M2 uses the same reliable Magic Keyboard. Shiny keycaps = -3-5%. Non-working key or coffee spill = Rs. 25,000-32,000 top-case swap deducted. Dead Touch ID = another Rs. 6,000-8,000.
Charger and box
The 30W or 35W dual-port charger + braided MagSafe cable in working condition = +Rs. 5,000-7,000. Full retail box with foam = +Rs. 5,000-8,000.
Original invoice and warranty status
A unit still inside AppleCare or original 1-year warranty = +Rs. 10,000-18,000 on the offer. An Apple Pakistan or Dubai invoice with matching serial = +Rs. 5,000.
Colour
Midnight is the fastest seller and gets top-of-range. Starlight and Silver are middle. Space Grey is slightly slower in 2026 and sits Rs. 3,000-5,000 lower at trade-in.
How to prepare before selling
- Sign out of iCloud, iMessage, and FaceTime on the device. Non-negotiable.
- Back up to Time Machine or iCloud before you erase.
- Run Erase All Content and Settings from System Settings > General > Transfer or Reset. This resets the T2/Secure Enclave properly.
- Screenshot your battery cycle count from System Information > Power so we can quote over WhatsApp before you travel.
- Inspect the screen closely under a light for the vertical Stage Light bright patch, disclose it if present.
- Find the original MagSafe cable, charging brick, and retail box.
- Wipe the flat aluminum edges and screen with microfiber, dents and marks show far more on brushed satin than they did on the older Air.
How this model compares to newer versions
The M3 Air is about 10-15% faster than M2 and now ships with 16GB minimum, which is why 8GB M2 owners see the sharpest resale drop. Yes, but expect Rs. 10,000-15,000 off the range. It is a known display-flex issue and any experienced buyer spots it under a white background. We still buy these because we can move them to buyers who accept the flaw for a discount.
Should I upgrade to 16GB or 512GB before selling to get more money?
You cannot. RAM and SSD are soldered on Apple Silicon Macs, there is no upgrade path. What you shipped from Apple is what you sell.
Do you accept units with cracked screens or broken hinges?
Yes, but at parts value only. A cracked M2 screen typically means Rs. 80,000-110,000 offer instead of the Grade A range, because the display assembly repair alone is around Rs. 90,000-120,000 through third-party.
Is a 2022 M2 or a 2024 M2 (13-inch refresh) worth the same?
The 2024 model was a minor refresh (still M2 chip, minor internal changes). Trade-in ranges are within 5% of each other for the same RAM/SSD, so we treat them the same for quoting.
Can I trade in against a MacBook Pro or an iMac?
