Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Trade-In Value in Pakistan (2026)
The T14 replaced the T480 line and shifted the platform to 10th/11th-gen Intel (Gen 1) and 11th-gen Intel or AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4000/5000 series (Gen 2). Compared to the T480 it is thinner, sleeker, uses soldered RAM on some SKUs (Ryzen versions have one soldered + one SO-DIMM), and gets significantly better battery life. In 2026 it is a very solid used business laptop and the Ryzen variants are especially attractive because the 4750U / 5850U easily beat any Intel U-series equivalent.

BIOS supervisor / power-on password
CRITICAL discount factor, same rule as all ThinkPads. A locked T14 requires security chip work to unlock, we treat it as parts-value only (Rs. 25,000-35,000). Clear the password in BIOS (F1 at Lenovo splash > Security > Password) before selling.
Battery health
T14 has one internal 50Wh or 65Wh battery. Under 20% wear = full offer. 20-40% wear = -5-8%. Over 40% or Vantage says Service = Rs. 10,000-14,000 replacement cost deducted.
Screen type and condition
HD (1366x768) TN = Grade B ceiling regardless of condition. FHD IPS 250-nit = full range. FHD IPS 400-nit low-power = +Rs. 4,000-6,000. Any dead pixels or backlight issue = -5-10%.
Intel vs AMD Ryzen
Ryzen 5 PRO 4650U or 7 PRO 4750U/5850U variants sell for Rs. 5,000-8,000 more than same-year Intel because of raw CPU performance advantage on multi-core. Buyers explicitly ask for Ryzen.
Chassis (glass-fiber for i5, magnesium for i7/Ryzen)
The i5 SKUs use glass-fiber-reinforced plastic bottom, i7 and Ryzen use magnesium. Magnesium chassis with dents = -5-8%. Plastic chassis with cracked corners = -Rs. 5,000-7,000 for a new bottom cover.

Is the AMD Ryzen T14 really better than the Intel version?
For CPU-heavy work like compiling or Excel with heavy models, yes. For general office and browsing they feel identical. Intel Gen 2 (Tiger Lake) has Thunderbolt 4 which Ryzen versions lack, that matters if you use eGPU or a TB dock.
Can I upgrade the RAM before selling?
Intel T14: one SO-DIMM slot, max 32GB single stick. Ryzen T14: one soldered 8GB or 16GB + one SO-DIMM slot. Upgrading gets you maybe Rs. 3,000-5,000 more, not usually worth the RAM cost.
My T14 was a corporate lease-return, is that a problem?
Only if there is a supervisor password or asset-tag engraved into the lid. Password is a serious issue (see above). An asset tag sticker peels off fine, engraving = -Rs. 5,000-8,000.
