Laptop battery replacement cost by laptop family — Pakistan 2026
Prices below include the replacement battery and all labour. No separate labour charge on top. Prices vary within the range based on battery capacity (Wh), cell grade, and generation.
Lenovo ThinkPad T-series (T480, T490, T14, T14s)
ThinkPad T-series uses Lenovo-branded Simplo / SMP Li-Ion packs — widely available in Lahore at Hafeez Center. The T480 has a unique dual-battery architecture (an internal 24Wh + a hot-swappable external 72Wh); if only the external bridge battery fails, replacement is Rs. 4,000 – 5,000. The T490 / T14 / T14s use a single sealed 50Wh or 57Wh pack at Rs. 4,500 – 6,500 depending on capacity. ThinkPad batteries from OEM-equivalent Taiwanese suppliers (Celxpert, Simplo OEM) perform identically to the Lenovo-branded pack — we specify the cell chemistry and capacity rating before fitting.
Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (Gen 6 – Gen 10)
X1 Carbon uses a slim 57Wh pack that is glued into the chassis on Gen 6 and later — removal requires careful heat and a spudger. Compatible Celxpert / SMP packs are Rs. 5,500 – 7,000; genuine Lenovo FRU packs sourced through distributor channels are Rs. 7,000 – 8,000. Battery capacity verification via Lenovo Vantage after replacement confirms the new pack reports 57Wh design capacity. On Gen 9 / Gen 10 the pack is slightly different (57Wh vs 57.5Wh) — we confirm compatibility before ordering.
HP EliteBook 840 G5 – G10
HP EliteBook 840 G5 through G8 use a 56Wh 3-cell pack with a standard HP connector — one of the most straightforward replacements we do at Hafeez Center. OEM-equivalent cells from BSN / HSTNN series run Rs. 3,800 – 5,000; Gen 9 / G10 packs (slightly higher-capacity 51Wh design) are Rs. 4,500 – 5,500. The HP battery gauge is self-calibrating — after replacement the pack will show 100% health immediately and calibrate on the first two full charge-discharge cycles.
Dell Latitude 7480 / 7490 / 7400 / 7410
Dell Latitude 7-series uses Dell-coded batteries with e-EPROM authentication — a cheap no-brand pack will cause a "Battery not recognized" warning at boot (the laptop works on AC but may cap charge at 80% or refuse to charge entirely). We source OEM-equivalent packs that pass Dell's e-EPROM check so no BIOS warning appears. The 68Wh 4-cell pack used in the Latitude 7490 and 7400 (Rs. 5,000 – 6,000) is the most common replacement job in our corporate repair queue.
Dell Inspiron 15 3000 / 5000 series
Dell Inspiron 15 batteries are some of the most affordable replacements we do — the 41Wh 3-cell (Inspiron 3511, 3515, 3521) is Rs. 3,500 – 4,200, and the 54Wh 4-cell (Inspiron 5515, 5520) is Rs. 4,000 – 5,000. Dell Inspiron batteries do NOT use e-EPROM authentication (unlike Latitude), so OEM-equivalent cells from Taiwanese suppliers (DELL 40TF9, WDX0R equivalents) work without BIOS warnings. Replacement time: under 30 minutes — no heat or glue required on most 15-series models.
HP Pavilion 15 / HP 15s (all variants)
HP Pavilion 15 and the HP 15s-FQ / 15s-EQ (AMD Ryzen) all use the same 41Wh 3-cell pack with a standard HP connector (PN: JE04XL, HT03XL, HS04 depending on year). All three are interchangeable when the capacity and connector type match. OEM-equivalent packs are Rs. 3,500 – 4,200; if you want a higher-capacity replacement (some 54Wh 4-cell packs physically fit the same chassis and extend runtime by 30%), that option is Rs. 4,500 – 4,800. We confirm chassis clearance before ordering the larger pack.
Apple MacBook Air (M1, M2, M3)
MacBook Air battery replacement is the most complex job in this category — the battery is glued to the bottom case with stretch-release adhesive tabs, and the battery connector is directly below the trackpad. On M1 and M2 Air (13-inch), replacement involves removing 8 pentalobe screws, carefully heating the base to release the adhesive, and using Apple's proprietary pull-tabs to stretch the adhesive free without tearing the battery cells. Incorrect technique causes the pull-tabs to break inside, requiring a spudger to lever the pack out — which risks puncturing a cell. We have done 150+ MacBook Air battery replacements at our Hafeez Center workshop. Cost: Rs. 6,500 – 8,000 (M1/M2 13-inch) and Rs. 8,000 – 9,500 (M3 15-inch). After replacement, run Battery > Cycle Count in About This Mac to confirm the new pack shows cycle count near 0.
Apple MacBook Pro 13" (Intel i5/i7 + M1/M2)
MacBook Pro 13-inch uses a 58Wh 4-cell pack that is also glued to the bottom case. The pack is larger than the Air's (58Wh vs 49.9Wh) and has a 6-connector ribbon cable that must be removed in sequence — the wrong order strips the connector locking bar. MacBook Pro 13-inch M1 and M2 battery replacements run Rs. 7,500 – 9,000; Intel 2017–2020 models (Touch Bar and non-Touch Bar) are Rs. 7,000 – 8,500. The MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch (M1 Pro / M2 Pro / M3 Pro) use different packs (70Wh and 100Wh) — WhatsApp us for pricing on those models as availability varies.
Gaming laptops (Asus ROG / TUF, Acer Nitro 5, MSI)
Gaming laptop batteries are the most varied category — the Acer Nitro 5 uses a 57Wh 3-cell (Rs. 4,500 – 5,500), the Asus TUF Gaming A15 uses a 90Wh 4-cell (Rs. 5,500 – 6,500), and the Asus ROG Strix G15 uses a 90Wh 4-cell at Rs. 6,000 – 7,000. MSI Gaming (GF63, GF65) use a 51Wh 3-cell at Rs. 4,500 – 5,500. Gaming batteries degrade faster than office laptop batteries because they regularly charge to 100% and drain under high-GPU load — most gaming batteries show significant capacity drop after 2–3 years of heavy gaming use. WhatsApp your exact model number for a compatibility check before visiting.
Signs your laptop battery is dying — what to watch for
Laptop batteries do not fail all at once — they degrade gradually, then fail suddenly. Here are the clearest early warning signs, in order of urgency:
1. Runtime collapse — 6 hours became 1 hour
The clearest sign. A ThinkPad T490 that originally lasted 8 hours on a charge now lasts under 90 minutes on the same workload. This is not a software issue — it reflects a real reduction in Full Charge Capacity. When a battery that was designed for 57Wh now only charges to 32Wh (56% health), runtime falls proportionally. Use powercfg /batteryreport or coconutBattery to confirm.
2. Percentage jumps — the battery gauge lies
You unplug the charger and the battery drops from 70% to 40% in seconds. Or it sits at 20% for an hour then drops to 0% with no warning. This happens when individual cells within the pack have degraded unevenly — the BMS (Battery Management System) can no longer accurately gauge remaining capacity. The battery needs replacing, not calibrating.
3. Unexpected shutdowns at 15–25% charge
The laptop shuts down instantly — no warning, no sleep — at 20% battery. This is a voltage-sag failure: the cells can no longer deliver the instantaneous current a heavy CPU/GPU load demands even when they nominally show remaining charge. Laptops shut down immediately when the pack's output voltage drops below the motherboard's minimum operating threshold. This is irreversible; calibrating the battery will not fix it.
4. OS battery health warning
Windows 10 / 11 shows a yellow battery icon with "Consider replacing your battery." macOS shows "Service Recommended" in the battery status menu bar. These warnings trigger when the OS detects Full Charge Capacity has dropped below approximately 80% of Design Capacity (Windows) or the cycle count has reached Apple's service limit (macOS). Both are reliable indicators — when you see this warning, replacement is overdue, not optional.
5. Swollen battery — STOP USING IMMEDIATELY
If your trackpad is lifting, the base panel is bulging, or the laptop no longer sits flat on a table — your battery is swollen. This is an emergency. Do not charge the laptop. Do not put it in a bag. Do not use it on battery. A swollen Li-Ion cell is in the early stages of thermal decomposition and is a fire hazard. Bring it to us immediately or WhatsApp 0314 4000131 for instructions on safe transportation.
Swollen laptop battery — the full picture
A laptop battery swells when the Li-Ion cells inside undergo electrolyte decomposition — a chemical reaction that produces gas (primarily CO₂ and organic vapours) inside the sealed battery pouch. This can happen because:
- The battery has exceeded its useful cycle life (typically 500–1,000 charge cycles for Li-Ion)
- The laptop regularly operates at high temperature (above 40°C ambient) — a common issue in Pakistan's summer months when fans clog with dust
- The battery was stored at 100% charge for months without cycling (common on laptops used as desktops plugged in continuously)
- The battery has a manufacturing defect in the BMS chip that allowed overcharging
- The laptop suffered liquid intrusion that corroded the BMS board
The physical signs: the base lid or keyboard deck visibly bows outward; the trackpad feels raised or does not click normally; the laptop rocks on a flat surface where it previously sat flat; the screen shows pressure-marks from the keyboard when closed (battery pressure deforming the chassis).
Safe removal at our workshop: We use stretch-release adhesive removal (MacBook), screw-out battery frames (ThinkPad, Latitude), or standard clip release (Inspiron, Pavilion). We do NOT pierce or crush the pack during removal — we work slowly and carefully even when the pack is significantly swollen. After safe removal we dispose of swollen packs through proper hazardous-material channels; we do not hand them back to customers or discard them in general waste.
How to check laptop battery health — Windows and macOS
Windows — powercfg battery report
- Open Start, search for cmd, right-click → Run as administrator
- Type:
powercfg /batteryreport /output C:\battery-report.html - Press Enter, then open C:\battery-report.html in any browser
- Look at Design Capacity vs Full Charge Capacity
Under 80% of design capacity → battery degraded, consider replacing
Under 60% → runtime is significantly impaired, replace soon
Under 40% → immediate replacement recommended
macOS — System Information / coconutBattery
- Click Apple menu → About This Mac → More Info
- Scroll to Battery section — note Cycle Count and Condition
- Alternatively: Hold Option, click battery menu bar icon for Condition
- For detailed mAh data, download free coconutBattery from coconut-flavour.com
Condition: Normal → healthy, no action needed
Condition: Service Recommended → Apple considers battery at end of service life
Cycle count > 800 → approaching Apple's 1,000-cycle service limit; monitor closely
If you are not sure how to interpret your battery report, WhatsApp a screenshot to 0314 4000131 and our technicians will read it and tell you whether replacement is needed right now, soon, or not yet.
Genuine vs compatible laptop battery — what you need to know in Pakistan
The laptop battery market in Pakistan has three tiers, and understanding them matters more than the "genuine vs aftermarket" label:
Tier 1 — OEM-grade cell manufacturers (what we use)
Simplo Technology, Celxpert Energy, SMP Electronics, Sunwoda, Dynapack, Sanyo / Murata, LG Chem cells — these are the actual manufacturers that supply Lenovo, HP, and Dell for their factory-installed batteries. A ThinkPad L17M4PH3 pack from Celxpert and the Lenovo-branded pack with the same part number contain identical cells, identical BMS firmware, and identical build quality. Price difference: Rs. 300 – 800 less than the Lenovo-branded equivalent.
Tier 2 — OEM-brand pulls (refurbished OEM packs)
Pulled from returned or end-of-lease laptops. If the cycle count is under 50 and capacity is above 90%, these can be excellent value. If the cycle count is unknown or the pack is not tested, these are risky — you may be getting a pack already at 70% health that will fail within 6 months. We only offer OEM pulls when we can verify cycle count and capacity using our battery analyser before fitting.
Tier 3 — No-brand / cheap compatible (what to avoid)
No manufacturer markings on the cells, capacity rating on the label does not match measured capacity, BMS firmware does not communicate accurately with the laptop, and often inflated capacity claims (a pack labelled 5200mAh that measures 2800mAh). These packs degrade to 70% capacity in 6–9 months of daily use, sometimes less. They are also a fire risk — Grade C / Grade D lithium cells have lower thermal stability and are more prone to swelling under charging stress. We do not fit these, and we will tell you if a Hafeez Center competitor has fitted one in your laptop.
At our workshop, every battery replacement discloses the cell manufacturer and capacity before you approve. We fit Tier 1 cells on all standard Windows laptops. For MacBook we either fit an Apple-partnered OEM-equivalent (same Apple-spec cells, may show 'Unknown Part' in System Info) or a refurbished Apple-genuine pull (shows 'Apple' in System Info) — your choice, with the price difference explained upfront.
Internal (sealed) vs external (removable) laptop batteries
Before 2015, most laptops had removable batteries you could swap by pressing a latch — no tools required. Since 2015, the majority of thin-and-light business laptops (ThinkPad T-series from T470 onward, all MacBooks, HP EliteBook 830/840/850 G5+, Dell Latitude 7-series) have moved to sealed internal batteries glued or screwed into the chassis. Key differences for repair:
External / removable batteries
- User-replaceable — no tools, no workshop visit needed
- Can carry a spare for travel
- Still found on budget Inspiron, older Pavilion, some gaming models
- Generally lower-capacity (3-cell 41Wh) due to chassis size constraints
- Replacement cost: Rs. 3,500 – 4,500 (you can do this yourself)
Internal / sealed batteries
- Requires disassembly — Torx/Pentalobe screws + spudger
- Higher capacity (50–100Wh) in a thinner chassis
- MacBook uses adhesive pull-tabs requiring heat and specific technique
- Risk of damaging the battery connector or eDP cable if rushed
- Replacement cost: Rs. 4,000 – 9,500 (workshop recommended)
If your laptop has a removable battery, you can purchase the replacement pack from our Hafeez Center shop and fit it yourself — we will verify the part number match and show you the correct orientation before you leave. If your laptop has a sealed internal battery, we strongly recommend workshop replacement to avoid damaging the battery connector, display cable, or trackpad ribbon during the disassembly.
Is laptop battery replacement worth it?
Battery replacement is the single best-value repair for a laptop. The decision rule: if the battery cost is under 15% of the laptop's current working market value, replacement is almost always worth it — and battery replacement rarely exceeds 15% for any functional laptop.
Example A — Lenovo ThinkPad T490 (i5-8th gen, 8GB, 256GB, 4 years old)
Battery lasts 45 minutes. Working market value: Rs. 75,000 – 95,000. Battery replacement cost: Rs. 5,000. Repair cost as % of value: 5–7%. Replace without hesitation. Post-repair this is a Rs. 75,000+ business laptop that runs 6–7 hours on a charge again.
Example B — HP Pavilion 15 (i5-10th gen, 8GB, 512GB, 3 years old)
Battery health at 55%, runtime under 2 hours. Working market value: Rs. 50,000 – 65,000. Battery replacement cost: Rs. 4,000. Repair cost as % of value: 6–8%. Replace — easy call.
Example C — Apple MacBook Air M1 (2020, battery at 500 cycles, 72% capacity)
Runtime dropped to 6 hours vs original 15+ hours. Working market value: Rs. 110,000 – 130,000. Battery replacement cost: Rs. 7,500. Repair cost as % of value: 6–7%. Replace — the MacBook Air M1 is a long-lived machine and a fresh battery restores it to near-new daily use.
Battery replacement is rarely NOT worth it unless the laptop has multiple simultaneous failures that push the total repair bill above 40% of its working value. Our technicians give you that honest assessment during free diagnosis. WhatsApp photos and your model to 0314 4000131 and we will give you a quote and a recommendation within 30 minutes.

FAQ — laptop battery replacement cost Pakistan
How much does laptop battery replacement cost in Pakistan?
Laptop battery replacement in Pakistan typically costs Rs. 3,500 – Rs. 9,500 depending on the laptop brand, battery capacity, and model year. Standard office laptop batteries (Dell Inspiron, HP Pavilion, HP EliteBook 840) run Rs. 3,500 – Rs. 5,500. Business-class laptops with larger-capacity packs (ThinkPad X1 Carbon, Dell Latitude 7-series) run Rs. 4,500 – Rs. 8,000. MacBook batteries are at the top of the range at Rs. 6,500 – Rs. 9,500 because of the glued-in construction and specialised removal process. At NN Laptops Hafeez Center Lahore, diagnosis is free and we give you a fixed-price quote before ordering any part.
What are the signs that my laptop battery needs replacing?
The clearest signs of a failing laptop battery: (1) Battery life has dropped to under 1–2 hours when you previously got 4–6 hours on the same usage. (2) The battery percentage jumps — for example, dropping from 40% to 15% instantly, or reading 100% for 5 minutes then falling rapidly. (3) The laptop shuts down unexpectedly at 20–30% — the battery can no longer deliver the current a heavy workload demands even though it shows charge remaining. (4) Windows or macOS reports a battery health warning (Windows: 'Consider replacing your battery'; macOS: 'Service Recommended' in the battery menu). (5) A swollen battery — the trackpad lifts, the base panel bulges, or the lid no longer closes flat. The last sign is an emergency — see the swollen battery question below.
Is a swollen laptop battery dangerous? What should I do immediately?
Yes — a swollen laptop battery is a genuine safety hazard that you must act on immediately. A swollen battery means the Li-Ion cells inside have begun thermal decomposition, producing gas (CO2, vaporised electrolyte) that has inflated the pouch. The risk is thermal runaway — a puncture or further compression can cause the cell to ignite, producing a fire that is difficult to extinguish with water (Li-Ion fires require Class D or dry-sand suppression). What to do right now: (1) Stop using the laptop immediately — do not charge it, do not run it on battery. (2) If the battery is removable (external battery pack), remove it carefully and place it on a non-flammable surface away from paper, fabric, and plastic. (3) Do NOT puncture, crush, or put the laptop in a bag or enclosed space. (4) Bring it to us at Hafeez Center or courier it with the laptop packed loosely in a rigid box — do not seal a swollen-battery laptop in an airtight case. We have disposed of hundreds of swollen packs safely and will replace it the same day.
How do I check my laptop battery health in Windows?
The most complete Windows battery health report is the powercfg /batteryreport command. Open a Command Prompt as Administrator and type: powercfg /batteryreport /output C:\battery-report.html — then open that HTML file in a browser. The report shows: Design Capacity (the original mWh capacity your battery was built to deliver), Full Charge Capacity (what it currently charges to), and Cycle Count. A battery at 80% health means Full Charge Capacity is 80% of Design Capacity — 4 hours of original runtime becomes 3.2 hours. Below 70% health (less than 70% of design capacity), runtime is noticeably short and we recommend replacement. The report also shows a 30-day charge/discharge history and lists recent battery drains that caused shutdowns. On newer Windows 11 laptops you can also check Settings > System > Power & Battery > Battery health for a simplified view.
How do I check battery health on a MacBook?
On macOS, click the Apple menu > About This Mac > More Info (on Ventura/Sonoma) or System Report > Power (on older macOS) to see: Cycle Count, Condition, Full Charge Capacity (mAh), and Design Capacity (mAh). Apple considers a MacBook battery at its designed service life when it reaches 1,000 charge cycles — this is where Condition changes from 'Normal' to 'Service Recommended'. However, capacity degrades before cycle count hits 1,000: a MacBook Air M1 battery at 500 cycles that shows Full Charge Capacity of 30Wh vs the 49.9Wh design capacity is at 60% health and likely giving you under 6 hours of use vs the original 15-18 hours. At our workshop we use coconutBattery (a free Mac utility) to get a more detailed cell-level breakdown during free diagnosis.
Genuine vs compatible (aftermarket) laptop battery — which is better?
For most Windows laptops, a high-quality OEM-equivalent battery from a reputable cell manufacturer (Simplo, Celxpert, SMP, Sunwoda) is equivalent to the branded OEM pack in daily use — because these are the same factories that supply Lenovo, HP, and Dell for their original battery production. The risk is cheap no-brand batteries that use Grade B or Grade C cells with lower actual capacity than advertised, poor BMS (Battery Management System) firmware that causes inaccurate charge readings, and shorter calendar life (degrading to 70% capacity within 6 months vs 18–24 months for Grade A cells). At NN Laptops we only source from Simplo, Celxpert, and SMP-tier suppliers and disclose the cell manufacturer before you approve. For MacBook, Apple's batteries use proprietary firmware that communicates with the T2 / Apple Silicon chip — aftermarket MacBook batteries work but may show a 'Unknown Part' notice in About This Mac on M1/M2 models. We tell you this before fitting. The difference in daily use is negligible; the Apple-partnered replacement option at Rs. 9,500 shows 'Apple' in the part info.
Is it worth replacing a laptop battery, or should I just buy a new laptop?
Battery replacement is almost always worth it — it is the single cheapest repair that most transforms the daily usability of a laptop. A ThinkPad T490 with a dead battery costs Rs. 4,500 – 6,000 to fix; the same working ThinkPad T490 is worth Rs. 70,000 – 90,000 on the used market. The repair cost is 5–8% of the laptop's value. Compare that with a new or used replacement: the cheapest used i5-10th gen laptop in our shop starts at Rs. 45,000. Battery replacement wins unless: (1) the laptop has multiple simultaneous failures (dead screen, dead battery, broken hinge, failing motherboard) and the total repair bill exceeds 40% of the laptop's working value; or (2) the laptop is 7+ years old with a processor generation that cannot run Windows 11 and the battery is not its only fault. Our technicians will tell you honestly which category your laptop falls into during free diagnosis.
How long does laptop battery replacement take at NN Laptops?
Almost all laptop battery replacements at our Hafeez Center Lahore workshop are completed same-day — typically within 30–90 minutes for Windows laptops (Dell, HP, Lenovo, Asus, Acer). MacBook battery replacements take 2–3 hours because of the glued-in adhesive removal process. If the specific battery pack for your model is not in stock (rare for mainstream Dell / HP / Lenovo / Asus models), we order it and typically receive it within 1 business day from our Lahore distributor network. We give you an estimated completion time when we take in the laptop and WhatsApp you when it is ready.
