ThinkPad T14 Motherboard Replacement Cost Pakistan

The T14 replaced the T480's dual-battery design with a single sealed pack, but it kept the same repairable philosophy the T-series is known for — a socketed DC jack region, standard screws, no glue holding the board down. Most motherboard complaints we see on a T14 are one of three things: no power after a spill, a fried USB-C port from a cheap non-PD charger, or genuine board failure on an older Gen 1 (10th-gen Intel) unit several years into corporate service.

Pricing in Pakistan: chip-level repair runs Rs. 6,000 – 18,000, a tested donor board runs Rs. 22,000 – 32,000, and a genuine Lenovo FRU board sourced to order runs Rs. 35,000 – 45,000. Because the T14 charges over USB-C (unlike the T480's proprietary barrel jack), a common and cheaper-than-expected fault is a damaged USB-C power delivery controller rather than the whole board — we always check this specifically before quoting a full swap.

Cost breakdown

chipLevelRepair

price
Rs. 6,000 – 18,000
notes
Covers USB-C power-delivery controller faults (the most common “no charging” cause on this model), spill-damage cleanup, and general component-level no-power diagnosis. We check this before ever quoting a board swap.

donorBoard

price
Rs. 22,000 – 32,000
notes
A tested, working board pulled from a donor T14, matched to your exact Gen and CPU configuration. Storage is a separate NVMe module, so a board swap doesn't touch your stored data.

oemNew

price
Rs. 35,000 – 45,000
notes
Genuine Lenovo FRU board, sourced to order for your exact Gen (1, 2, or 3) and CPU spec. We confirm generation via the base sticker or serial number first, since boards aren't interchangeable across Gens.

labour

Included in the price above. Bench time: 1-4 working days for chip-level work; 1-2 days for a donor board swap once sourced.

warranty

15-day workmanship warranty plus a 30-day warranty on any component we fit. Donor boards carry a 15-day workmanship warranty with condition disclosed upfront.

Signs your motherboard needs replacement

  • Laptop won't charge over USB-C with a known-good charger and cable, even though the port looks physically fine
  • No power at all — no LEDs, no fan spin, no display output on an external monitor
  • The laptop boots to a black screen with no Lenovo logo and no BIOS beep codes
  • Random freezes or shutdowns that persist even after a Windows reinstall and a fresh battery
  • Visible corrosion, a burnt smell, or a swollen area on the board following a spill

Turnaround time

Walk-in

Free diagnosis same-day, but the repair itself is bench work — USB-C controller and component-level fixes typically take 1-4 working days; donor board swaps 1-2 days once sourced.

Courier from other cities

8-13 working days round-trip from Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Islamabad, Rawalpindi or Sargodha; 10-17 working days from Karachi, Multan, Peshawar, Hyderabad, Abbottabad or Bahawalpur; 12-20 working days from Quetta or Sukkur. That covers courier there, free diagnosis within 24-48 hours of arrival, the board repair, and courier back — we confirm your exact date on WhatsApp once diagnosis is done.

Frequently asked

Will replacing the motherboard affect the data on my SSD?

No — the T14 stores everything on a removable M.2 NVMe SSD with no board-level pairing or encryption lock tied to specific hardware. Whether we do a chip-level repair or a full board swap, your storage module moves across untouched, and your files, apps, and Windows installation carry over exactly as they were.

My T14 won't charge over USB-C — is this the motherboard?

Often yes, but it's usually a specific, cheaper fault: the USB-C power-delivery controller chip that negotiates charging voltage with the adapter. This is common after using a cheap non-PD-certified charger repeatedly, and it's a chip-level repair (Rs. 6,000-10,000 typically) rather than a full board swap. We test this first before assuming the whole board needs replacing.

Is a donor board reliable for a T14?

Yes, provided it's matched to your exact generation and CPU spec, and tested before fitting — which is what we do as standard. We run a full diagnostic pass (power, all ports, display, charging, BIOS) and disclose the board's condition honestly before you approve, the same as we would for any used component.

Does this affect any remaining Lenovo warranty?

If your T14 is a recent corporate purchase still under Lenovo's original 1-3 year on-site warranty, check coverage via serial number on Lenovo's support site before using third-party repair, since that would end remaining manufacturer coverage. Most T14s reaching our workshop are already past that window, and our own 15-day workmanship warranty applies instead.

Is it worth fixing a T14's motherboard, or is it close to end of useful life?

Usually yes for chip-level faults — Rs. 6,000-18,000 against a Rs. 60,000-80,000 used T14 is a small fraction. A full donor-board swap at Rs. 22,000-32,000 is worth it mainly when the fault is genuinely catastrophic (not fixable at component level) and the rest of the laptop — screen, keyboard, battery — is otherwise healthy. We give you that honest comparison at free diagnosis.
