Laptop Data Recovery in Lahore - From Dead Drives, Wet Laptops, Deleted Files
Data recovery is the most emotionally loaded repair we do. Nobody walks in for it casually - the customer has already tried restarting, tried a different cable, tried a friend who knows computers, and is now hoping we can recover a wedding video, three years of accounting, or a thesis due next week. We take that seriously and are honest about odds and cost before we open anything.
There are two very different tiers of recovery. Logical recovery - the drive is fine but the files are lost due to accidental delete, format, partition corruption, or a failed OS install - is usually straightforward, cheap, and high-success. Physical recovery - the drive has clicking heads, is not detected at all, or was inside a water-damaged laptop - is harder, more expensive, and honestly not always possible without a proper clean-room facility. We tell you which category you are in before you pay anything, and we refer clean-room-only cases to the two facilities in Karachi that can actually do it, rather than fake capability we do not have.
Symptoms this service covers
- •Accidentally deleted files, emptied recycle bin
- •Formatted drive or wrong-partition install
- •Windows will not boot but drive spins up (BSOD, boot-loop)
- •Drive not detected in BIOS - was working yesterday
- •Clicking or grinding noise from drive (mechanical failure)
- •Drive detected but shows as RAW or unallocated
- •Water-damaged laptop where drive may still be salvageable
- •SSD suddenly showing 0 bytes or drive-not-ready errors
- •Corrupted files after unexpected shutdown
- •Deleted or lost partition after Windows install or GParted mistake
How we diagnose it
First we test whether the drive is detected at all by connecting it to a bench system via SATA-to-USB or M.2-to-USB adapter. If detected we run SMART diagnostics to check for pending sectors, reallocated sectors, and read-error rates. Logical recovery uses R-Studio, DMDE, or Recuva depending on filesystem and damage type - we scan and preview files before you commit to full recovery. Physical failure cases (clicking drives, non-detect) we assess whether the fault is PCB-only (recoverable at our bench) or head-assembly (clean-room referral). No guesswork, no attempts on failing drives without discussing risk first.
Real cost + timeline
Logical recovery - accidentally deleted, formatted, corrupted filesystem
Rs. 6,000-15,000Timeframe: 1-2 days
Depends on drive size and file count. You pay only if we actually recover your files - free evaluation.
OS boot failure with intact drive - data pull to external
Rs. 3,500-6,500Timeframe: Same day
We pull your files to your external drive, then you decide whether to reinstall OS or replace drive.
PCB-level SSD recovery (controller failure, board damage)
Rs. 12,000-25,000Timeframe: 3-7 days
Requires donor board matching - not always available for all models. Success rate around 60-70 percent when donor is found.
Mechanical HDD recovery - non-clean-room (PCB swap, firmware repair)
Rs. 15,000-28,000Timeframe: 3-7 days
PCB and firmware issues we handle at our bench. Head-assembly issues we do not attempt.
Clean-room recovery (clicking drives, physical head damage)
Rs. 25,000-45,000+Timeframe: 1-3 weeks
Referred to Karachi clean-room facility. We coordinate courier and communication. Quote confirmed by the recovery lab, not us.
Water-damaged laptop drive extraction and recovery
Rs. 8,000-25,000Timeframe: 2-5 days
Depends on drive condition after water exposure. Sometimes drive is fine (external to spill zone), sometimes needs full recovery workflow.
Honest success expectations
Logical recovery success rate at our bench is 85-95 percent - the data is almost always still on the platters or in the NAND cells, and modern tools are good. PCB and firmware SSD recovery is 60-70 percent when a donor board is available. Mechanical HDD recovery without clean-room is 40-55 percent for PCB and firmware faults. For any head-crash or physically damaged platter the only honest answer is a proper clean-room facility, and even there the success rate is 60-80 percent depending on drive age and damage extent. We do not promise miracles and we do not attempt work that will destroy your data if it fails.
What we cannot fix
- × Overwritten data - once new data has been written over your deleted files, no software or hardware in the world recovers the original
- × Encrypted drives without the password - BitLocker, FileVault, veracrypt - if you do not have the key we cannot bypass modern encryption
- × Physically shattered drives (dropped hard from height with visible casing damage) - not economically recoverable
- × Head-crashed HDDs at our bench - we refer these out honestly rather than attempt and destroy your data
- × Firmware-locked SSDs on some newer NVMe drives where the controller has entered protective mode we do not have manufacturer tools for
Warranty on the repair
Data recovery is a no-cure-no-pay service on logical recovery cases up to Rs. 15,000 - if we do not recover the files you asked for, you pay only the diagnostic fee (Rs. 1,000). Physical and clean-room cases are quoted individually because the labs charge us evaluation fees. Recovered data is delivered to your external drive or a new drive you supply - we do not keep copies and we wipe our recovery drives after handover.
How to start
WhatsApp 0314 4000131 with what happened, what files you need most, and approximately how much data. Do not keep using the laptop or drive - every write reduces recovery odds. If the drive is clicking, power off immediately and bring it in - continued use of a clicking drive causes head-on-platter damage that is not recoverable. FAQ
Can you recover data if the laptop will not turn on at all?
Almost always yes if the drive itself is healthy - we pull the drive, connect via adapter, and copy your data. The laptop being dead is not the same as the drive being dead.
My drive is making a clicking noise - is it recoverable?
Clicking usually means head-assembly failure. Recoverable, but only in a proper clean-room, not at any regular bench in Pakistan. Success rate 60-80 percent, cost Rs. 25,000-45,000, referred to Karachi. Do not keep powering it on - each attempt causes more damage.
How long does data recovery take?
Logical recovery: 1-2 days for average sizes. PCB or firmware SSD: 3-7 days. Clean-room: 1-3 weeks including courier both ways. We give a realistic estimate at evaluation.
Do you charge if you cannot recover the data?
On logical recovery up to Rs. 15,000 - no, you pay only Rs. 1,000 diagnostic. On PCB and clean-room work the labs charge evaluation fees we have to pass through - we quote those upfront and you decide before we send it.
Is my data private during recovery?
Yes. We only view file names during scanning to confirm what you want. We do not open personal documents, photos, or videos. Recovery drives are wiped after your data is handed over. This is standard practice, non-negotiable.
Can you recover data from a drive I accidentally formatted or overwritten Windows on?
Format followed by Windows reinstall - usually yes, roughly 60-80 percent success on user files if the format was quick and Windows was installed on the same partition without heavy use afterwards. The longer you use the reinstalled system, the more original data gets overwritten.
