What this part does
The C-panel is the upper base cover where your palms rest. It carries the keyboard, the trackpad and often the power button and speaker grilles. On many models the keyboard is fixed into it.
Signs you need a new one
- The palm-rest is cracked, chipped or the corners have broken.
- The cover has lifted or bulged, sometimes from a swollen battery.
- The trackpad area is loose or cracked.
- Heavy wear or peeling coating where the hands rest.
Check this before you order
- Check the exact model, since C-panels are very model-specific.
- Check if the listing includes the keyboard, or only the plastic cover.
- Check the layout, backlight and fingerprint reader if you need them.
- Look at the trackpad cut-out and the speaker grille position.
Fitting: Technician recommended
The whole laptop must be taken apart, as the C-panel holds the main parts. Disconnect the battery first. Label screws, since many lengths are used in one build.

Common questions
Will my old keyboard move over?
Sometimes. On models with riveted keyboards it cannot easily be moved, so a unit with the keyboard fitted is simpler.
My palm-rest is bulging. Is it the cover?
Often it is a swollen battery pushing from beneath. Stop using the laptop and have the battery checked.
Is the fingerprint reader included?
It depends on the listing. Check the picture and details.
