What this part does
The digitizer is the thin glass layer over some displays that senses touch. It is bonded to the screen. On many modern models the glass and display are fused, so the glass cannot be changed alone.
Signs you need a new one
- The glass is cracked but the picture underneath is fine.
- Touch response is slow, jumpy or missing in some areas.
- Dust or lines appear between the glass and the display.
- The glass has lifted at the edge.
Check this before you order
- Check if your screen has a separate glass at all. Many models do not.
- Match the screen size and the model name or number.
- Look at the ribbon connector on the old glass: width and pin count.
- Check if the display under the glass is undamaged. Replacing only glass will not fix a bad panel.
Fitting: Technician recommended
Glass is bonded with adhesive and often needs heat and special tools. A small mistake can crack the panel beneath it. Work in a clean spot with little dust.

Should I buy the glass or the full screen?
If the picture is perfect, glass alone is possible on some models. If you are unsure, the full screen is the easier fit.
Why is my new glass not responding?
A loose ribbon or a missing driver is the usual cause. Check the connector first.

Light dirt on the surface can be wiped. Dust inside the layers needs a repair.
