HP Pavilion G6-2000 Hinges

Part details

What this part does

Hinges are the metal joints that hold the lid to the base and let it open and close. They are usually a left and right pair, bolted to the lid and the base. Worn hinges can pull on the screen cable or crack the plastic around them.

Signs you need a new one

• The lid will not stay open and slowly falls back.
• A cracking or clicking noise when you open or close it.
• The lid is stiff on one side and loose on the other.
• Plastic around the hinge is cracked or the screw posts have broken out.
• The lid wobbles when you type.

Check this before you order

• Check if you need the left, the right, or both.
• Look at the shape of the bracket, the number of screw holes and their spacing.
• Check if the hinge goes on a touch or non-touch lid, as these can differ.
• Compare the laptop model number with the listing.

Fitting: Moderate

You must remove the bezel and often the screen to reach the hinge. Disconnect the battery first. Replace both hinges together, since one worn side puts extra load on the new one.
