What this part does
This cable carries the picture signal from the motherboard to the screen. It runs through the hinge area. LVDS is the older standard, and most newer laptops use eDP over a similar-looking cable, so the keyword is the same for search but the cable can differ.
Signs you need a new one
- The screen flickers, flashes or shows lines when the lid is moved.
- The display is dark but an external monitor shows a picture.
- Colours look wrong or the picture has a pink or green tint.
- The screen works only at certain lid angles.
- The webcam stops working at the same time, on models where its wire shares the cable.
Check this before you order
- Count the pins on the plug (for example 30, 40 or 30 eDP) and compare with the listing.
- Check if the cable is LVDS or eDP. The pin count and plug can look alike, so do not guess.
- Check if your screen is touch or non-touch, and if there is a separate camera wire.
- Look at the plug position on the back of the screen: left, right or lower middle.
Fitting: Moderate
You need to remove the screen bezel and unscrew the panel to reach the plug. Disconnect the battery first. Some plugs have a metal clip or a tape strip that must be lifted carefully.

Common questions
My screen flickers. Is it the cable or the panel?
Flicker that changes as you move the lid usually points to the cable. A fixed line or patch usually points to the panel.
Is eDP the same as LVDS?
No. They are two different signal standards. Many cables look alike, so match the pin count and your model.
Can a bad cable damage the screen?
A loose or shorted cable can stress the display board. It is wise to fix it early.
