What this part does
The hinge cover is the plastic trim that hides the hinges where the lid meets the base. On some models it is a long bar across the back. On others there are two small caps. It protects the cable and gives the hinge a neat finish.
Signs you need a new one
- The cover is cracked or has pieces missing.
- The cover rattles or has come loose from its clips.
- The cable or hinge is showing through a gap.
- The cover was damaged after a hinge failure.
Check this before you order
- Check the shape: a full-width bar, or separate left and right caps.
- Compare the colour and finish (black, silver, grey) with your laptop.
- Check the count and position of the clips and screw holes.
- Confirm the exact model, as covers differ even in the same series.
Fitting: Moderate
Most covers snap on. Some slide under the bezel or sit under the keyboard, so more disassembly is needed. Use a plastic pry tool so you do not crack the new clips.

Common questions
Can I glue a cracked cover?
A small crack can be glued, but the clips are usually the weak point and may break again.
Does the cover affect the hinge?
It does not hold the lid, but a broken cover can leave the cable exposed.
Will the colour match exactly?
It should be close, but slight differences in finish can happen. Check the listing photo.
