What this part does
Rubber feet are the small pads on the bottom of a laptop. They keep the base slightly above the table, so air can flow in through the vents. They also stop the laptop from sliding and hide some of the base screws.
Signs you need a new one
- One or more feet have fallen off or worn flat.
- The laptop rocks or slides on a table.
- The vents are partly blocked because the laptop sits too low.
- The base screws that were under the feet are exposed or missing.
Check this before you order
- Count how many feet your laptop needs, and note their shape (round, strip or long bar).
- Measure the length, width and height of an old foot.
- Check whether the foot hides a screw.
- Check if the new feet are self-adhesive and whether a strip is included.
Fitting: Easy
Clean the old glue off with a little alcohol, then press the foot on firmly for a minute. Heat in summer can soften the adhesive, so let it set before use. Check for any screw under the old foot.

Common questions
Does missing feet cause overheating?
It can. Feet leave a gap for air to enter the vents, and without them the laptop may run hotter.
Can I use any rubber piece?
Different height makes the laptop tilt or block the vents. Match the original size.
The glue keeps failing. What can I do?
Clean the surface well and avoid placing the laptop on soft beds or sofas where heat builds up.
