What this part does
A display assembly is the whole lid unit: screen, bezel, cable, often the webcam and Wi-Fi antennas, all mounted in the back cover. Buying it as one piece saves you from moving small parts across.
Signs you need a new one
- The lid, panel and hinges are all damaged after a heavy fall.
- A cracked screen and a bent back cover at the same time.
- Webcam, microphone and antennas also fail with the display.
- Repeated screen faults even after a new cable or panel.
Check this before you order
- Confirm the full model number on the label under the laptop.
- Check the screen size, resolution and whether it is touch or non-touch.
- Check what is included: webcam, antennas, hinges, bezel or not.
- Look at the hinge mounting points and compare them with the lid on your laptop.
Fitting: Moderate
You unscrew the hinges and unplug the display cable and antenna leads. Disconnect the battery first. Take photos of the cable routing before you remove anything.
Common questions
Why choose an assembly over a screen alone?
It is a bigger part, but it is a simpler repair if the back cover, hinge or bezel is also damaged.
Are the antennas and camera included?
That depends on the listing. Read the description to see what comes in the assembly.
Can the assembly be shipped safely?
It must be packed well with edge protection. Screens cracked in transit are common, so check the parcel before you accept it.
