What this part does
The battery powers the laptop when the charger is not connected. It is a pack of lithium-ion cells with a small control board inside. Packs are either clipped in from outside or sit inside the base, held by screws.

- The percentage jumps, for example from 40 percent straight to off.
- The laptop only works while plugged in.
- The battery will not charge, or the system says plugged in, not charging.
