What this part does
The speakers are two small drivers, left and right, inside the case. They usually sit near the front edge or beside the hinges. Each speaker connects to the motherboard through a short wire pair with a small plug.
Signs you need a new one
- No sound from one side, or from both.
- Crackling, buzzing or distorted sound at normal volume.
- Sound is very quiet even at full volume, while headphones are loud.
- A rattling noise when bass plays.

- First test headphones. If they work, the speakers or wiring are the likely cause.
