What this part does
The trackpad is the touch surface under the keyboard that moves the pointer. It usually includes the left and right click areas, either as separate buttons or as a pressable surface. A small ribbon connects it to the motherboard.
Signs you need a new one
- The pointer moves by itself or jumps around.
- Gestures like two-finger scroll stop working.
- Clicking is hard, sticky or has no click at all.
- The surface is cracked, lifted or has a swollen battery pushing it up.
- Part of the pad does not respond.
Check this before you order
- Match the model and check the ribbon width and pin count.
- Check if the trackpad has separate button keys or a clickpad.
- Look at the size and the screw positions on your old trackpad.
- Check whether a fingerprint reader is built in.
Fitting: Moderate
The trackpad is usually under the palm-rest and reached from the underside. Disconnect the battery first. If the pad is lifting, check the battery for swelling before you do anything else.

Common questions
Is it a driver problem?
Possibly. Try an external mouse and update the touchpad driver. If it still jumps, the hardware may be at fault.
My trackpad is lifting. What is wrong?
A swollen battery is a common cause. Stop using the laptop and have it checked.
Does the trackpad include its cable?
Some do, some do not. Look at the listing details.
