What this part does
The LED screen is the display panel itself, the part that shows the picture. It sits in the lid behind the bezel. Size, resolution and connector type differ from model to model, so the right match matters more than the brand.
Signs you need a new one
- Cracks, black spots or ink-like patches, often after a fall or a bump in transit.
- Vertical or horizontal lines across the picture.
- White patches or yellow marks across the backlight.
- Picture is very dim or dark, but a torch shows a faint image.
- Flicker or colour shift that does not change with the lid angle.
Check this before you order
- Find the panel code printed on the back of the current screen, such as one starting with B or LP.
- Match the size (for example 14.0 or 15.6 inch) and resolution (HD, Full HD, 4K).
- Check the cable connector pin count (30 or 40 pin) and its position on the panel.
- Look at the mounting: screw tabs on the sides, or brackets on the sides and bottom.

Remove the bezel carefully, as the clips can snap. Disconnect the battery first. Keep fingers off the new glass and do not press the middle of the panel.

My screen is cracked but works. Do I still need to replace it?
Cracks often spread, and liquid crystal can leak. It is wise to replace it soon.
Is the damage the panel or the cable?
A cracked screen is the panel. Flicker that changes with the hinge is more often the cable.
Can I put a Full HD screen in an HD laptop?
Only if the connector and signal type match. Check the pin count and panel code before you change resolution.
