If the laptop runs Windows, you can quickly check battery health using a built-in tool. Ask the seller for permission and follow these steps:

Open Command Prompt as administrator (search 'cmd', right-click, run as admin). Type 'powercfg /batteryreport' and press Enter. It will save an HTML file to your user folder with path like C:\Users\YourName\battery-report.html. Open that file in a browser.

Look for 'Design Capacity' and 'Full Charge Capacity'. The difference tells you how much capacity is lost. Also check 'Cycle Count' – higher than 500-800 may indicate heavy use. A battery health percentage is calculated as (Full Charge Capacity / Design Capacity) * 100.

Step 2: Physical Inspection for Swelling

A swollen battery is dangerous and must be replaced. Look for signs: a lifted trackpad, bulging area on the bottom case, or difficulty in closing the lid.
