What to check when buying a used Dell Latitude 7490
1. Battery size and health
The Dell Latitude 7490 shipped with a 42 or 60 Wh battery (3-cell 42 Wh or 4-cell 60 Wh (60 Wh also as Long Life Cycle)). Ask for a battery report: at 80% health a 60 Wh pack holds about 48 Wh. Below that, budget for a replacement.
Check a battery report2. Which screen it has
The 14″ Dell Latitude 7490 came with 2 options: 1920×1080 IPS; 1920×1080 IPS touch. Check the resolution in display settings so you get the panel you pay for, and look for dead pixels on a white page.
See screen part numbers3. RAM upgrade room
Our listings show a maximum of 32GB DDR4. Slots: 1x M.2 SSD slot, 2x SODIMM slots. If you need more RAM later, buy the unit with the free slot rather than paying extra for a pre-fitted upgrade.
Plan an upgrade4. BIOS password and company lock
Office laptops often come with a BIOS supervisor password or company management (Computrace / Intel AMT) still on. Press F2 or F1 at start-up and make sure the BIOS opens without a password.

Some of our units have a touch screen and some do not, so check the listing. Swipe every corner of the screen to make sure touch works across the whole panel.
6. Keyboard, ports and charging
Type on every key, plug a charger and a USB drive into each port, and make sure the original-wattage charger is included.
