Best Laptop for Punjab University (PU) Students in Pakistan 2026
The University of the Punjab (PU) was established in 1882 in Lahore and is one of the oldest universities in the region. It has a main Quaid-e-Azam Campus in the south of the city and the Allama Iqbal Campus (Old Campus) in the city centre, where PU's own site places colleges such as Pharmacy, Fine Arts and Information Technology. It also has campuses outside Lahore.
That spread matters when you buy a laptop. A student of Botany or Chemistry mostly writes reports and reads papers, an art and design student needs a screen and graphics that suit design software, and a Pharmacy or IT student sits in between. One 'PU laptop' does not exist, so this guide splits the advice by what you actually study.
PU is inside Lahore, so you can walk into our shop at Hafeez Center, hold the exact laptop, and test the keyboard and screen before you pay. The campus is large and students carry their laptops across it daily, so weight, battery life and a strong body count as much as the processor.

What each program typically needs
Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences
Word, PDF reading, Zotero or EndNote for references, online library databases and Zoom. An 8GB laptop with an SSD and a good keyboard is enough. Long battery life matters more than speed because campus power points are limited.
Basic and Natural Sciences
Excel, Origin or similar plotting tools, and statistics packages such as SPSS or R for lab data. 8GB works; 16GB is better if you analyse large data files.
Information Technology and Computer Science
IDEs, Python, databases and sometimes virtual machines. Choose 16GB RAM and an SSD of 512GB. Choose a model with a RAM slot so you can upgrade later.
Art and Design
Photoshop, Illustrator and similar tools need 16GB RAM, a good colour screen and storage space. Pick a model with an IPS display, and ask us to show you the screen in person.
Pharmacy
Mostly Office, reference software and some data analysis. A light 8-16GB laptop is fine. Pick a spill-resistant keyboard if you work near the lab.

Frequently asked by University of the Punjab (Punjab University), Lahore students
Can I come and test a laptop in person before buying as a PU student?
Yes. PU is in Lahore, so you can visit Shop 66A, 3rd Floor, Hafeez Center, Gulberg III, Lahore, any day 10 AM to 10 PM except Sunday. Open the exact unit, check the keyboard, screen, ports and battery, and then decide. If you cannot visit, WhatsApp 0314 4000131 and we send photos and a short video of the actual laptop.
Which laptop is enough for a BS in Botany, History or Urdu?
A used Core i5 with 8GB RAM and an SSD handles all of it: Word, PDF reading, Zoom and online research. Spend the saved money on a laptop with a backlit keyboard and a battery that lasts a full day of classes. You do not need an i7 for writing work.
I study art and design. What should I buy?
Choose 16GB RAM and an IPS screen. Design files are large, so a 512GB SSD is better than 256GB. Our premium picks (ThinkPad X1 Carbon, ZBook 14u or MacBook options) have sharper screens. Ask us to open an image on the screen so you can judge colours yourself.
How do I pay?
In Lahore you can pay cash at the shop. For orders from another city we accept bank transfer, JazzCash and Easypaisa before dispatch.
What if the laptop has a problem after I buy it?
Every laptop comes with our 30-day check warranty. If something fails in that period, WhatsApp 0314 4000131 or bring it to the shop. Because both PU and our shop are in Lahore, you can walk in instead of waiting for a courier.
Can I upgrade RAM or storage later?
On most ThinkPad T-series and EliteBook 840 models, yes. They usually have a RAM slot and a replaceable SSD. Tell us your department and we will check the exact model before you buy so you know what can be upgraded.
