Best Laptop for GC University Lahore Students in Pakistan 2026
Government College University (GCU) Lahore began as Government College on 1 January 1864, and it was granted full university status in 2002. The university today has science, engineering, arts and social science, and languages and Islamic learning faculties, and it hosts the Abdus Salam School of Mathematical Sciences.
That mix means a physics or mathematics student needs a laptop for LaTeX, MATLAB and Python, an engineering student wants simulation capacity, and an arts student needs a reliable writing machine. A heavy gaming laptop makes little sense for most of these.
GCU is in central Lahore, so students can travel to our Hafeez Center shop in Gulberg and choose a laptop in person.

Frequently asked by Government College University (GCU), Lahore students
Which laptop works best for LaTeX and mathematics?
Any ThinkPad with a good keyboard and 8-16GB RAM. LaTeX itself is light, but MATLAB, Python and many PDFs open together need memory. A ThinkPad T490 with 16GB is a solid choice.
Can I test the keyboard for Urdu typing?
Yes. Visit Shop 66A, 3rd Floor, Hafeez Center, Gulberg III, Lahore and try the keyboard layout. Urdu typing works through software and the standard keyboard on any laptop we sell, so you can test your preferred input method on the spot.
How far is your shop from GCU?
Both are in Lahore. Hafeez Center is in Gulberg III, on the other side of the city from the old city area, so allow some travel time. WhatsApp 0314 4000131 if you need directions.
What payment methods do you take?
Cash in the shop, bank transfer, JazzCash and Easypaisa for remote orders.
Is there a warranty on used laptops?
Yes, a 30-day check warranty. If a laptop develops a fault in that time, bring it to us or message on WhatsApp.
Should I choose a touchscreen or 2-in-1?
Only if you take handwritten notes or sketch. A 2-in-1 such as an EliteBook x360 works well with a stylus for maths notes, but it costs more than a plain laptop with the same specification.
